The Betsy Hotel is a 61-room boutique property on Ocean Drive, which did not have space for a traditional spa. Instead, they wanted to open a wellness rooftop garden with an emphasis on meditation. They contacted K’Alma to incorporate an outdoor spa with a natural theme and bamboo surroundings. We turned their weakness, lack of indoor space, into a viable opportunity by creating an outdoor spa, the only one of its kind on Ocean Drive.

We used the natural elements in our favor, such as a welcome foot ritual in the garden. Another theme of the Betsy is poetry and great writers. We honored this, and crafted treatments inspired by quotes from poets around the world. In three months, we handled all facets of the Betsy’s spa launch including spa design, brand concept, menu design and layout. We secured all state and local permits and licensing, implemented spa software and brand SOP, created operational budgets and projections and hired and trained the staff.

Through our strong partnership with the hotel, we were able to align our shared vision and create the best outdoor rooftop spa in Miami. Inspired by the beautiful nature of our surroundings and the philanthropic commitment of the hotel, our resulting spa experience and menu has received accolades by guests and media alike for the last seven years.
